Brown Motors Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Ford Lincoln Mercury of Petoskey, MI donated an on-car brake lathe to Petoskey High School’s automotive technology program.
The lathe, which resurfaces brake drums and disks, is estimated to be worth approximately $5000 if purchased new.
Adam Hausler, instructor for the PHS auto tech program, said the lathe is essential for his students because they are currently attempting to become re-certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation in the areas of brakes, electrical & electronic systems, engine performance, suspension & steering. Hausler added that this certification allows his program to receive additional funding from the State of Michigan; plus, it is a cause of bragging rights for the program!
Rick Kline, service manager for Brown Motors, explained his company decided to make the donation after consolidating its two dealerships.
