Around certain times of the year Americans’ sense of patriotism seems to soar. Recently, the World Cup has inspired many people to wear red, white, and blue and brake out into chants of, “USA! USA! USA!” Another time Americans feel a burst of patriotism is the 4th of July when we all get together and watch fireworks, wave our flag, and have some hot dogs and apple pie.
Recently, Brand Keys Inc. polled 4,680 consumers between 16 and 65 to gauge how companies were viewed along 35 different values, including “patriotism.” This poll showed that out of 225 different brands, the Chrysler Group’s “Jeep” brand ranked #1 for patriotism! Ford was tied for 5th with Harley Davidson and Ralph Lauren. So before you go out and enjoy the fireworks, barbeques, and other festivities this week, take a second to think about what patriotism means to you, and what companies you think best resemble this ideal.
