After evaluating a slew of fierce competition, Popular Mechanics has named the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat its “Best Muscle Car” of 2014.
For this year’s Car Awards competition, Popular Mechanics editors drove as many makes and models they could get their hands on. The challenge was to find the two cars that stood out the most in terms of excellent drivability and significance to the car market.
The winner of the 2014 Best Muscle Car award was the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, thanks to its 707 horsepower, supercharged HEMI V8 engine and NHRA-certified quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds at 125 mph with stock Pirelli tires.
These stats alone make it the fastest and most powerful muscle car ever (and our favorite at Brown Motors), so it’s no surprise that—despite noting “this year was particularly challenging because there are so many incredible cars and trucks”—the editors at Popular Mechanics called the Challenger SRT Hellcat “the wildest muscle car Detroit’s ever built.”
