Analysts from TrueCar’s ALG division, who have been setting automotive resale values for over 50 years, reported that the 2015 F-150 resale value has increased by 11.5% when compared to the brand’s 2014 model.
Ford’s updated truck is the best resale option among US automakers according to Eric Lyman, ALG’s vice president of industry insights. According to ALG’s report to Bloomberg, the 2015 F-150 is projected to maintain 58% of its value after three years where the 2014 version retains 52%, which still isn’t too shabby.
The lighter aluminum construction of this full-size pick-up, initially causing repair and insurance cost concerns, ended up playing a major role in the lineup’s improved fuel-efficiency, which was the main factor in improving its resale value. A leader among its segment, the 2015 F-150 (powered by the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine) gets 26mpg on the highway.
Ford is no stranger to aluminum construction with its development of the Jaguar luxury models in 2008.
