In case you missed it, Dodge has temporarily stopped taking any new orders for SRT Hellcat models. The super-charged Challenger and Charger Hellcat SRT models are wildly popular—even surpassing the automaker’s expectations. Now, a lack of engines is slowing vehicle deliveries down, prompting the automaker to halt any new orders—at least for now.
We do have good news, though. If you are one of the many frustrated customers waiting on your Hellcat SRT order to be fulfilled, you might just be in luck. Hellcat.org has published an article citing an anonymous source, who claims that Dodge has confirmed production of 1,000 Hellcats. No word on how many of those will be Chargers and how many will be Challengers, but all of them will feature the incredibly powerful 6.2-liter V8.
“For those of you still waiting on your VINs, you just may be receiving a nice little surprise in the coming days,” stated Hellcat.org’s announcement. “Of those 1,000 new schedules [to be built by Dodge], we did not receive any hard numbers on how many were Challengers or Chargers, but it’s definitely a huge step in the right direction and looks like Dodge is listening.”
We at Brown Motors hope to begin taking new SRT Hellcat orders in the near future. Until then, we’ll keep you updated.
