Esquire Magazine has named the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel its Truck of the Year after extensive testing amongst hefty competition.
The editors evaluated all potential truck models in the US market for the annual award. They looked for a good balance of attributes that outline what makes a great truck, such as functionality, versatility, safety, value, efficiency, and style.
It goes without saying the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel had plenty to offer when it came to power, torque, and hauling capability—as do most trucks on the market. But where it really stood out was its fuel efficiency and first-in-segment equipment.
Thanks to the tightly-packaged diesel engine, the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, active aerodynamics, and various other technologies, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel achieves a 28 mpg rating on the highway—which isn’t just the highest of any truck here at Brown Motors but also the highest ever for any full-size, half-ton pickup!
“This is where the truck tide turns: a full-sized American pickup with a just-big-enough diesel V6—the only one of its kind,” Esquire magazine wrote. “You get the fuel economy of a small engine, the pulling power of a larger one and the grumble of a working-class diesel.”
No wonder the Ram 1500 took home Esquire’s Truck of the Year award!
