Ford and Petty’s Garage have teamed up to create a limited run of three Mustang GT King Edition models. Petty’s Garage, NASCAR legend Richard “The King” Petty’s in-house speed shop, is famed for creating some of the most powerful supercars in history. This time, Petty’s Garage went to work on the 2016 Mustang GT, creating a ridiculous 670 horsepower supercar.
Distinguished by Petty Garage’s signature blue accents and high performance front and rear wheels with standard Continental Extreme Performance summer tires, the Petty Mustang GT gets its power from a Ford Performance supercharger added to the stock 5.0-liter V8 engine. An optional upgrade uses smaller supercharger pulley to increase output to a thrilling 727 horsepower.
“I’ve always liked the look of the Mustang, and the 2016 model gives us a great base car to work with,” said Richard Petty in a statement. “These new King edition Mustangs are pretty much the way I’d build my own. They are great fun to drive, and have a signature single exhaust.”
